The Cloud That Was Grounded

Exhibition Period: 4 June – 29 June 2024

Opening Ceremony: 8 June, 4 - 7 P.M. (Saturday)

Yrellag Gallery is honoured to present The Cloud That Was Grounded”, solo exhibition by Hannah Ho. "Escape and Confine" is a rhetorical expression that combines two contradictory ideas like an oxymoron. This is an observation since last year - a desire to be both present and absent. The objects are co-dependent and at the same time self-limiting. It is in this struggle that the work expresses its power and strength. The removable and temporary features such as screws, straps, aluminium tubes, and wooden strips, implies the relationship of both locking and releasing at any time. Seeking each other through the gaps, attempting to find stability in the obscurity.

Inspired by Parasitic Architecture, Hannah collects the architectural samples from her workplace that have been selected or discarded in the design projects and adopt the patterns and textures through plaster casting or direct imprint on the samples. New parasite structures are formed by misplacing and embedding different geometric columns, beams and pipes. Redefinition is created from recontextualizing the objects and the surroundings.

Those are the urban forms shaped in the memories.

The exhibition opening will be held on Saturday, 8 June 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will be on view from 4 June 2024 until 29 June 2024. The artist will be present during the opening.
