《From Here to There》[從這邊到那邊 ]藝術家專訪:胡洛泓 Marco Wu

Paper aeroplanes often have a symbolic meaning. It may be common to think of it as hope or expectation. Before graduation from high school, many people launch paper planes. But I think of it as a bit of a contradiction. Actually, these objects are fake, they are a substitute. It's not a real plane and certainly not an actual carrier. It can't hold anything. It forms this parabola and is bound to end up on the ground.

This state echoes how we all eventually get back to our daily lives. There's a feeling of helplessness, there's no more colour on the screen. And if the colours have been removed, it might entice the audience to pay more attention to the form.

My work is all about the shadow. Some overlaying components appearing when the element of the box is added, how it transforms under the lighting. These variations emphasise the existence of the shadow, its presence.

A window is a space that you can see out of, but that you can’t get out from. I added movable parts, making these boxes open because it allows the audience to experience the change of hiding in, then opening, the shadows.

I also added various mechanisms in these pieces so that it can neither be fully opened nor fully closed. In this process, there's no way to completely open or close the door. It's an uncomfortable feeling. It's all about the audience's experience. A feeling of not wanting to hide completely, but also not wanting to share everything.
